Walker wins Green Cup: Post your ideas for the sustainability measure

For those of you who were not able to attend the Glow Green Party on Friday, the winner of the November Dorm Energy Challenge is Walker. Congratulations to the energy-conscious Walker residents and to all of you who helped us meet our campus-wide 8% reduction!!

In addition to everlasting fame and glory as the winners of the First Annual Green Cup, the residents of Walker will get $2000 to invest in
the dorm for a sustainability measure. ALL STUDENTS are invited to an open forum next Sunday to discuss how that money might be spent.

How about installing half/full flush systems in the bathrooms…

I think that could reduce our water consumption by a significant amt & I think that access to fresh water could be a greater challenge than access to energy in the next couple of decades.

How about motion detector lights in the hallways so they don’t stay on all night long. p.s. I like the low-flush toilet idea too

since half of the dryers in the walker laundry room are working poorly or dont work at all, we could look into high-efficiency, energy-saving replacements for them
